PKR needs a home base

Parti KeAdilan Rakyat needs a home base state to support its national agenda as the significant political force to lead the alternative front.
The current Alternative Front in the Malaysia political arena is pursuing for America's two party systems democracy to ensure the check and balance of the absolute control of Barisan Nasional regime in Malaysia parliamentary system.
In the Malaysia political structure, It is near to impossible for PKR to take the lead in the Alternative Front unless it has strong home base to prove its political ideals and its administrative strength in managing the state.
At the moment, the only significant trade mark of PKR is Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim that many claims that its existence is merely to support the ideals of personal struggles of its de-factor leader.
PKR's Ideals will remain as intangible ideals if the party could not produce a show case to the people of its mightiness in delivering its aspiration to the real world what PKR can do.
Many people recognized Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim as future leader of Asia during the Tun Mahathir Muhamad's Era.
Most of Anwar's significant contributions towards the modernization of Malaysia were overshadowed by Tun Mahathir. So whatever Anwar's did, the credit goes to Mahathir or Barisan Nasional regime system.
Anwar's capability to manage a country is definitely yet to be proven despite of having many heavy weight corporate figures supporting his ideals.
The political reality is definitely not correlated to the skill in the corporate management. The failure of Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim in Ijok by-election has shown that corporate heavy weight may not be the choice of simple people who are more concern about their immediate needs rather than the futuristic promises.
The Malaysian political history has recorded the failure of Dato' Onn Jaafar and Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah who lost in the UMNO power games.
Both leaders have been the powerful leaders during their era, but their Parti Negara and Parti Semangat 46 both faded away despite of very promising beginning with many ambitious idealist political gurkhas.
Both of them had failed because it does not have a home base to rule.
They both targeted to take over the national administration while leaving state to other opposition components. Tengku Razaleigh's Palace patronage has blessed PAS in Kelantan with a clean sweep landslide victory for the PAS-Semangat 46 coalition government in Kelantan.
At the age 59, Anwar Ibrahim may not have too many years left to make his political ideals become a reality; he can not afford to follow the wrongful footsteps of his predecessors.
The unforgiving UMNO political animals will definitely defense their political power base in fears of the reemergence of Anwar in the UMNO power corridors.
Perhaps Anwar has to learn from Tun Lim Chong Eu who survives the pressures from MCA by claiming its stake in Penang as it home base to support its national political agenda.
Being a Penangite himself, Anwar should realized that Penang is an ideal stepping stone for him to pursue for the PKR national interests because Parti Gerakan's popularity is at its all time low.
The majority Island's Chinese voters are very concerned about the power hungry UMNO who love to show off their Keris!
If PKR and Alternative Front win big in Penang, It will definitely cause a bigger swing in Barisan Nasional's popularity in the 2012 General election. It will also be the first step to secure Anwar's position for the future premiership.
If Anwar decide to use the short cut to premiership via UMNO, he will return with his victory trophy- Penang to gain access into the express way to the Putrajaya complex.
